Good job!

Well, finally, I am happy with the current design. As you can see, it is based on the popular Aeros design, with some little changes.

I’m still not completely convinced about the date and comments “ears” on the left of the post, but I haven’t found a way to move them yet without breaking something else ;-), so that may have to wait.

By the way, this layout uses some properties that are not implemented in some browsers. In short, the nice rounded, tombstone effect on the boxes will be displayed only in mozilla-family browsers and Safari. There are other solutions for rounding corners, but keeping the original Aeros solution was the best compromise in terms of skill, time and laziness ;-).

An now, let’s have some fun trying to apply a similar design to the webshop :-) !

Merry Christmas!

Bob, the 30 weeks foetus accurate life-size skull replica joins me in wishing you happy Christmas, holidays and all that stuff.

There has been a reduced activity on that blog, and it will be even worse during December, while I’ll try to perform extensive works on both the webshop and the blog, to hopefully be able to “re-open” in January, with a brand new blog, webshop and new products.

See you in January !

Shrödinger Strikes Back!

Over the course of my search for model, skeletons and skulls, I acquired a complete, plastic, real life-size, cat skeleton.

Somehow, I have the feeling our own live fat cat, Lamia, disapproves…

Skulls Candles Attack!

Yes, I know, once again I’m promoting myself. But I do not think it is a problem, when you think I’m the main and possibly unique reader of this blog :-).

So, I spent quite some time this summer for a special big order for custom candles. The main conclusion is that I have to find a way to speed up the wax melting… Making the candles is not too big an issue, not really even time-consuming, but more time-wasting: you prepare, you then wait for the wax to melt, then you pour, then you wait for the wax to cool down. Rinse and repeat 200 times ;-).

Packaging the candles was funnier and less solitary, tough even with an additional 1 to 2 persons, it took the best of a weekend.

Well, enough words, some images (can also be found on Epitafe):

Last words

In order to live up to the name of this blog, here are a couple clever last words:

  • Behan Brendan (Irish playwright, to the nun attending to him on his deathbed): “Bless you sister, may all your sons be bishops”
  • H.G. Wells (British writer): “Go away… I’m all right”. Wanted his epitaph to read “I told you so. You damned fools!”
  • Voltaire (French writer, on his deathbed when one of the oil lamps in the room caught fire): “What? The flames already?”
  • Voltaire (apparently very busy wisecracking, even on his deathbed, when asked to forswear Satan): “This is no time to make new enemies”
  • William Saroyan (American writer): “Everybody has got to die, but I have always believed an exception would be made in my case. Now what?”
  • Paul Claudel (French writer): “Doctor, do you think it was the sausage?”

Authenticity not guaranteed :-).

Good idea, ugly skull

Well, I have pretty specific tastes in skulls and usually think the less is the better. I can’t stand all those Hallowwen skulls which always include some drops of blodd, a spider, a serpent or whatever. The human skeleton has a beauty in itself which does not need anything else but, well…

Anyway,  the following is a pretty good idea, but I’m not too sure about the execution. First, who ever wear such big rings? And, in any case, who would wear those, they are pretty ugly, don’t you think?

Too bad, I would have loved the idea of a skull USB key…

I just noticed the price: 145$! Pretty expensive…

If you’re looking for a stylish UBK key, I would better recommend those: 8 gigs, bulletproof, waterprooof, for 26£ (~50$)

My Little Pony

I still do not know why I was offered a little pony when I quit my last job… But then, it had a fateful encounter with my Roboraptor, as documented in there:

But things could not stop there… A couple months later, Thomas found this on Flicker:

I love the “Little Pony” style presentation:

“Skulley is ridden by the first horseman of the apocalypse. She enjoys fresh organic apples, brains, and walks on the beach. “
